    McDaniel celebrates 154th Commencement on Saturday, May 18

    McDaniel College celebrates its 154th Commencement for the Class of 2024 on Saturday, May 18. The graduate ceremony begins at 10 a.m., followed by the undergraduate ceremony at 2 p.m. Both ceremonies take place in the college’s Gill Center. A live stream of both ceremonies will also be available online at mcdaniel.edu/commencement.

    Meet McDaniel's newest Dorsey Scholars

    Six incoming Class of 2028 students are the college’s newest Dorsey Scholars. The Dorsey Scholars Program is the highest academic honor at McDaniel and includes full tuition, room, and board for all four years.
  • Trustee Alumni Awards 2024

    McDaniel alums recognized for alumni career and service achievement

    Two McDaniel alums received Trustee Alumni Awards, the highest alumni honor given at McDaniel, during the Trustee-Faculty Dinner held May 3. The 2024 recipients are James A. Felton III '95, M.S. '98, a national leader and scholar-practitioner in the field of diversity in higher education, and Donald J. Hobart '62, a dedicated and active alumni volunteer who is best known for coordinating informal alumni tailgates at Green Terror home football games.

    McDaniel selects new Global Fellows and National Security Fellows

    McDaniel College selects students into the Global Fellows and National Security Fellows programs. Global Fellows is an academic and co-curricular opportunity that empowers students to explore the world and create a global portfolio while the National Security Fellows Program provides McDaniel students with robust knowledge, skills, and experience in national security.

    Seniors present at annual History honor society conference

    Five History seniors were invited to present at the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference held April 6. Senior History major Zach Paugh won second prize for his paper titled "John F. Kennedy’s Leadership: A Diplomatic Prevention of Nuclear War," which marked the 12th time since 2007 that a McDaniel student has won a prize at the conference.

    Retired Carroll County Public Library Executive Director Lynn Wheeler receives McDaniel's Lifelong Learner Award

    Carroll County Public Library Director Emeritus Lynn Wheeler received the 2024 Delta of Maryland Lifelong Learner Award from the Phi Beta Kappa national honor society at McDaniel College during the college's daylong Academic Symposium on Monday, April 29.

    Cinema majors showcase original films during Cinema Showcase

    Eight Cinema majors premiere their original fiction and documentary films during the McDaniel Cinema Showcase on Thursday, May 2, in Decker Auditorium, Lewis Hall of Science. Each film was written, directed, produced, and edited by Cinema majors as their final capstone project. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the event begins at 7 p.m.

    This spring, McDaniel students had the opportunity to present and be recognized for their original student-faculty at the American Chemical Society Conference and the Intercollegiate Student Chemists Convention, which host researchers from across the U.S.

    McDaniel's annual Academic Symposium showcases the liberal arts in action

    McDaniel's Academic Symposium on Monday, April 29, includes a robust program of innovative and inspiring presentations. Throughout the day, McDaniel students, faculty, and staff showcase their original research, scholarship, and creative achievements. Plus, a keynote lunch features Assistant Professor of Biology Allison Kerwin who received a three-year National Science Foundation grant (advance registration is required).
